Guidelines for using the University Library, borrowing materials, maintaining discipline, and protecting library resources. General Library Rules All intending library users must register with the library services. All registered users shall have a library user card or borrowing card for identification. Staff and postgraduate students may borrow up to 6 books for up to 2 weeks. Undergraduate students may borrow up to 4 books for up to 2 weeks. Community members registered with the Library may read, study and conduct research in the Library, but may not borrow library materials. Library materials and equipment must be handled with care. Silence must be observed at all times in the Library. Discussions are not permitted within the Library. Bags, caps, overcoats and heavy jackets are prohibited in the Library. Personal textbooks and printed materials must be presented at the circulation desk when entering the Library. Mobile phones and audio instruments are prohibited unless earphones are used to control noise. Receiving phone calls in the Library attracts a fine of UGX 5,000. Food and drinks are prohibited in the Library. Only borrowed books are allowed out of the Library.

Users must not move library furniture within or outside the Library. Sitting between shelves is prohibited. Books removed from shelves should be left on tables after use. Users should not re-shelve them. Marking or highlighting library books is prohibited. Reservation of seats is not permitted. Emergencies should be reported to library staff immediately. Library staff may request any user violating rules to leave the premises.
