India Today Hindi Harper's Bazaar Reader’s Digest India Today Hindi Actor Karthi's Sardar 2 opened in theatres to mixed reactions on X, with viewers split over its execution. The Internet was impressed with the actor's dual role and action but raised concerns over runtime, writing and VFX. Actor Karthi’s Sardar 2 has hit theatres amid high expectations, but early reactions on X suggest that the sequel has received a mixed response from viewers. While some praised Karthi’s performance, the film’s pace and Sam CS’ background score, others found fault with its lengthy runtime, writing, VFX and music. Directed by PS Mithran, the sequel sees Karthi reprise his dual role and take the spy-action story forward on a larger scale. The film also features SJ Suryah, adding another layer to the franchise’s hero-villain conflict. One of the X users wrote, “#Sardar2 Promising Ideas, Lifeless Execution! An interesting start dives straight into the story, but the over-the-top execution never really engages. PS Mithran comes up with a few promising ideas and a decent message, but the narration is childish and unconvincing.” #Sardar2 Promising Ideas, Lifeless Execution! Vijay initially believed that his father was a criminal and had to deal with the consequences of his actions. He eventually discovered that Chandrabose had taken the blame for a larger mission to protect his people. The father and son, who had been separated for years, eventually reunited and joined forces to take on a common threat. Sardar 2 appears to take that story forward while expanding the world of Chandrabose and introducing a new chapter in his life. The film is directed by PS Mithran and stars Karthi in the lead, with SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Rajisha Vijayan, Ashika Ranganath and Yogi Babu in important roles. - Ends Published By: Prachi arya Published On: Sep 10, 2026 12:19 IST ALSO READ | Actor Karthi recalls meeting CM Vijay, discussing film piracy ahead of Sardar 2
