I'm running Microsoft Office for Mac (2022, Version 16.11.1) on Mac OS 10.15.7. I'm using OneDrive for Business. When I want to save a new version of an existing file using "save as..." Excel or Word always chooses the folder last saved to by default. This is extremely annoying as I always have to navigate to the desired folder, which in 99% of the cases is the current folder the original file is located. I don't know when that changed exactly, however, I remember that prior to that it was different. I saved a file in folder A. Then I navigate to folder B, open a different, existing file there, modify it and click "save as ..." to save it with a new name. Unfortunately, the default settings always prompt folder A. The logic and convenient option for me would be folder B though. Next time I open a file in folder C, modify it and click "save as...". By default folder B is selected instead of the current folder C.... and so on... How and where can I change that? Thank you for any help. The current version of MAU is 4.55 which requires only macOS version 10.13.x or later so there should be no problem applying it. Once that's done you should be able to update Office to 16.66.1 which is the final update compatible with your version of macOS Catalina. [I realize that I mistakenly wrote Big Sur in my previous reply.] Quite likely because the Mac Office version is you cited [16.11.1] is nearly 5 years behind on updates. It's surprising that you aren't experiencing other issues as well. Version 16.66.1 is the most current available build for Big Sur Catalina. In all probability your version of Microsoft AutoUpdate [MAU] is equally obsolete so it no longer is able to provide notification of update availability. Use this link to install the current version of MAU then apply the current Office updates. 1 additional answer Anonymous 2023-02-05T19:41:01+00:00 Hi Bob, thank you for your quick reply. That might be true. However, I installed the lasted office update on October 13, 2022 - at least that is what Microsoft AutoUpdate tells me. AutoUpdate is version 4.45 installed on January 11. For a few days now I get notifications within Office for updates that suggest to install Version 16.69. Unfortunately, that would require a Mac OS update, which is not supported by my dinosaur iMac Late 2012. As I haven't been able to update to the latest Mac OS (I'm still running Catalina), I haven't installed any OS updates for quite a while, only updates for certain apps like e.g. Safari, MS Teams, OneDrive. Office changed the "save as..." default only some weeks ago. So I don't see any connection with Office Updates. I'll try to use your link but I think I won't be able to install the update. I browsed the forum and found some similar issues dating back to 2015 and 2019 that mentioned OneDrive as a potential reason, however, I wasn't able to solve it. regards, Mat 0 comments No comments thank you for your quick reply.
