Frequently Asked Questions
Questions on your mind? Don't worry we have the answers!
What is the difference between direct and regular mutual funds?
Direct mutual funds involve a direct investment from you to the fund house, cutting out intermediaries. Regular mutual funds involve distributors who earn a commission, potentially resulting in higher expenses for investors. On Dhan, you can invest in the direct mutual funds at no commission!
Is it a good idea to invest in mutual funds?
Yes, investing in mutual funds can be a useful for diversification and getting exposure to multiple asset classes. Direct funds help you reduce your overall investment costs as there is no commission involved. However, it's important to ensure that you invest in the best mutual funds after thoroughly examining your risk profile, finanical goals, and other factors.
Is mutual fund profitable?
Mutual funds can be profitable over the long run but the true potential of each mutual fund depends on the quality of fund management as well as the assets in the fund's portfolio. Thus, you must evaluate every mutual fund before investing.
Is mutual funds better than stocks?
Investors turn to mutual funds because of factors such as diversification and professional management. Stocks, on the other hand, appeal to those who want share ownership in a publicly traded company and potentially higher returns. That said, stocks require more research and risk management techniques than mutual funds.
Is mutual funds better than FD?
Mutual funds are known to offer potentially higher returns than FDs but carry higher risk at the same time. FDs are more stable but have lower returns. Thus, whether or not one is better than the other isn't the question. The choice depends on risk tolerance and financial goals.
Is mutual funds better than ETFs?
ETFs trade like stocks. That's why they offer flexibility. Mutual funds are managed by professionals. Thus, what you should choose between ETFs and mutual funds depends on your risk profile, investment style, and goals.
What are the benefits of investing in mutual funds?
These are the benefits of investing in mutual funds: - Diversification - Professional management - Greater accessibility - Multiple asset classes
What are risks of investing in mutual funds?
These are the risks of investing in mutual funds: - Market-based volatility - Over/under diversification - High management fees
How to choose the right mutual funds for investing?
Consider these factors before choosing a mutual fund: - Goals - Risk tolerance - Investment horizon - Fund's historical performance Also keep an eye on the investment fees and overall market conditions.
What is better - SIP in mutual funds or lumpsum investment?
A SIP in mutual funds reduces market timing risk and offers rupee cost averaging. Lumpsum mutual fund investments are suitable for those who excel at timing the market and don't necessarily worry about rupee cost averaging.
What is the minimum amount required to invest in mutual funds?
The minimum investment amount varies among mutual funds. It can be as low as Rs 100 for some schemes, while others might have higher NAVs. Check each fund's NAV on Dhan now.
How to start investing in mutual funds on Dhan?
Investing in mutual funds on Dhan is simple. All you have to do is follow these steps: - Download the Dhan App - Submit the docs for onboarding - Wait for approval Once your account is ready, follow these steps: - Go to the 'Mutual Funds' section - Pick a Fund - Select SIP or One-Time - Add the Investment Amount - Choose a SIP Date (only for SIPs) - Enter the OTP - Complete the transaction That's it!
Why did I receive less money than I redeemed?
The amount you receive after redeeming a mutual fund can sometimes be slightly lower than expected due to a few reasons: Market movement (NAV change) Mutual funds are processed based on the applicable NAV. If the market moves between your redemption request and the final processing time, the NAV may be lower, which affects the final amount. Note: If your redemption request is placed before 3:00 PM, the same day's NAV is applied (subject to processing). If placed after 3:00 PM, the next business day's NAV is applied. Exit load (if applicable): Some funds charge an exit load if units are redeemed within a specific period. This is deducted from your redemption amount. Final amount = Units redeemed × Applicable NAV − Exit load (if any)
Which bank account will I receive my redemption amount in?
As per regulatory guidelines, your redemption amount is credited only to the bank account linked to your mutual fund folio. The amount is directly transferred by the AMC to your registered bank account. Note: Ensure your registered bank account is active and valid. If needed, you can update your folio-linked bank account via MF Central before placing a redemption request. If the registered bank account is not operative, the AMC may process the payout via cheque as per their policy.
When will my redemption amount get credited in my bank account?
Once you submit a redemption order to the AMC and it is confirmed, you will receive a notification via email. The funds will then be credited to your bank account according to the following timeline: - Liquid funds: T+1 working day - Debt funds: T+2 working days - Equity funds: T+3 working days - International funds: T+5 or more working days 'T' represents the day the order was placed. Please note that the redemption amount will be credited to the default bank account linked to your folio. You can verify the bank account associated with your folios by requesting an AMC account statement from the AMC website.
