Frequently Asked Questions
Are ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund's schemes safe to invest in?
No fund house can guarantee returns and capital security, especially when your money is being invested in market-linked products. That said, the SEBI strictly regulates all mutual fund investments to ensure the right practices. You can evaluate the mutual fund scheme against your goals, investment horizon, etc., to find the one that suits you.
Which ICICI Mutual Fund's scheme is best for the short term?
Investors who wish to receive gains in the short-term (less than three years) should invest in Debt Funds. The best ICICI Mutual Fund scheme for the short term will depend on the investor’s profile. Your risk appetite, financial goals, investment horizon, age, and other factors will determine which debt fund is right for you. For example, they can consider overnight funds if the investment is for a few days. For investments up to three months, liquid funds are suitable. Low-duration funds are mandated to hold instruments with an average maturity ranging between 6 and 12 months. And short-duration funds hold securities that mature between one and three years.
Are ICICI Pru Mutual Fund's schemes Tax-Free?
Every investor needs to pay capital gains taxes on the gains in mutual funds. The taxes can be short-term or long-term, depending on the investment duration. The amount of tax also depends on the type of mutual fund you have invested in. To calculate the tax amount, you must know the mutual fund type and the investment period. Mutual Fund Type Holding Period Type of capital gains tax Tax Liability Debt-oriented funds Less than 36 months Short-term capital gains As per the investor's income tax slab rate Equity-oriented funds Less than 12 months Short-term capital gains 15% Debt-oriented funds Greater than 36 months Long-term capital gains 20% with indexation Equity-oriented funds Greater than 12 months Long-term capital gains 10% for amount exceeding Rs 1 Lakh So, it is not the fund that's taxable or tax-free; it is the gains that you earn when you invest in a fund that can be taxable depending on the period of investment and type of scheme.

How can I increase the SIP amount of the ICICI Mutual Fund's scheme?
There are two ways to do this. When starting your investment, you choose the top-up SIP option. The option lets you automatically increase the SIP amount by a predefined percentage (say 25%) or amount (say Rs 2,000) at regular intervals, like quarterly or annually. If you have not done that, the other option is to start a new SIP in the same fund to increase the investment amount.
