Clean install frm USB
发布时间:2026-09-07 | 浏览:1
I have an Acer Aspire XC-705 desktop PC and I want to perform a clean install of Windows 10 from installation media on a USB stick.
However I have two problems.
First, I can't change the Boot Priority in the BIOS to Removable Device, because when I move Movable Device to the top priority and press F10 to Save and Exit, the computer boots up as normal from the hard drive. I disabled the Secure Boot option but it made no difference.
Second, I can't enter Recovery in Settings / Update and Security, because when I click on Recovery the computer exits Settings.
Please can you help?

Anonymous 2022-07-17T18:51:15+00:00 Thanks Dave. My next idea is as follows - The HDD is partitioned into C and D drives, with Windows and all my programs on the C drive and all my data on the D drive. Should I delete everything from the C drive, plug in the USB stick with the installation media on it, then Restart the computer? Will the BIOS recognise that the USB stick is the only copy of Windows and therefore boot up from there? Is this a crazy idea? If it doesn't work then I am snookered, with no Windows on the computer. 0 comments No comments

Anonymous 2022-07-17T18:02:55+00:00 Hi Dave, thanks for the advice, I'll try it, but first I have another question. I got into the BIOS by doing a Restart, and pressing <Del> before Windows started to load. I disabled Secure Boot on the Security tab, then set the USB to the top of the list. However when I pressed F10 to Save and Exit, the computer booted up as usual from the HDD. I have read on the Acer Community that I should also change the Boot Mode from UEFI to Legacy, but I can't see where to do that. I may have to update the BIOS but I haven't found an update anywhere - I'm still looking. 0 comments No comments

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down Do this twice On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt... etc. 2 To boot your PC from the USB, boot int BIOS, then disable Secure Boot on the Security tab, then set the USB as the primary boot device, save these settings and exit BIOS. Does the USB then become bootable/ 0 comments No comments
