And this September, we are ready. With a new Executive Committee in place, built for faster decision-making and clearer accountability, we are at work on what comes next for Sanofi . This team carries two responsibilities simultaneously: delivering strong performance today and building the foundations for our next decade. Both matter. Neither can wait. What drives me, and all of us, is the commitment of our people, our unwavering belief in the power of science, and the patients counting on us. That is what this company is built on. That's the origin story of every breakthrough we make in service of human progress. Few stories illustrate this better than Santiago Ramón y Cajal. At a time when leading scientists believed the brain was a reticulum, an interconnected network, Cajal challenged the consensus. Working in near isolation, he discovered that the nervous system was composed of individual cells, or neurons. With no scientific consensus on his side, he followed the facts with curiosity, discipline, and courage. That was enough to earn him the Nobel Prize in Medicine, the first ever awarded to a Spanish scientist, and to lay the foundation for modern neuroscience. That very foundation still supports the treatments we work to develop today. This story is now a children's book I'm proud to support as part of the INDOMITABLE collection by #TWFoundation . It resonates well with our purpose at Sanofi to always chase the miracles of science, which starts with curiosity like Cajal's. If you know a young person with that spark, I encourage you to share this book with them. Investing in the next generation is the most important contribution any of us can make to the future of science. After three days, here are my top takeaways. 🟣 China's innovation capacity is truly impressive and leveraging this local innovation will be one of the key pillars to Sanofi’s future success. Its vibrant ecosystem combines decision-making with speed and agility, pro-innovation policies, and exceptional talent. 🟣Our local teams drive our purpose forward. I connected with 3,000+ employees during our fireside chat and watched three groundbreaking demonstrations of our AI capabilities. Witnessing our four-decade journey in China come to life through the work of our people was the highlight of my trip. 🟣What's being built here today is a glimpse of what's possible for patients. As science and technology converge at a speed that completely reshapes how we innovate, it's a powerful reminder of why we do this work: for the patients around the world counting on us to move faster, think bolder, and deliver. Innovation is the most powerful expression of our commitment to them. I am encouraged by their fresh vision and their passion to care for patients. That is exactly what medicine needs. Together with the resources and technology they have at hand, they will achieve great things. Witnessing this proud moment with Miguel and his class reminded me of my own graduation more than 30 years ago. But the truth is, that is a fraction of the whole picture. What we don't talk about enough are the systems behind the breakthroughs that determine whether our science becomes medicines and vaccines. Three weeks in at Sanofi , I've spent time up close with the engines (and the people behind those engines) that drive our innovation forward, from our historic R&D and Manufacturing site in Vitry-sur-Seine, France, to our state-of-the-art campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. What I discovered is that innovation is our lifeblood – the connective tissue across thousands of decisions, pivots, and learnings that must align for a discovery to materialize. From early discovery and rigorous quality standards, to the manufacturing discipline and supply chain precision that turns a breakthrough into something we can deliver reliably, at scale, across the world. Our next chapter will not just be about what we discover and develop. It will be about building the capabilities and agility to bring new therapies to the patients urgently counting on us. That is the work ahead. public_profile__posts 2,490 59 Comments Copy LinkedIn Facebook X Report this post Belén Garijo Belén Garijo 4mo Report this post Belén Garijo shared this Thank you Aditi ! What made her opening remarks so powerful was their authenticity. Every word felt earned, rooted in real experience and genuine conviction. Yesterday marked a new milestone in this proud heritage, as we inaugurated our new Charles Best vaccine manufacturing facility, reinforcing our long-term commitment to protecting public health in Canada and beyond. This state-of-the-art, advanced biomanufacturing facility builds on decades of expertise as the world's leading influenza vaccine producer and strengthens our ability to manufacture the highest-quality vaccines at scale, faster and more reliably, reinforcing supply resilience for Canadians and citizens in more than 50 countries around the world who will benefit from this investment and the work of our talented and committed teams. Indeed, more than a ribbon-cutting, today’s event is a proud moment for the dedicated women and men of Sanofi Toronto, whose hard work every day makes days like this possible: the scientists, engineers and plant operating teams. They are the makers, the ones who turn the miracles of science into the reality of vaccine doses to protect the health of citizens in Canada and around the world. As one of Sanofi’s five global R&D hubs, Canada plays an important role in our global network. We have invested more than $1.5B in R&D in Canada over the past decade, alongside continued investment in our world-class biomanufacturing capabilities. We’re grateful for the partnership with the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario and the City of Toronto as we continue to advance solutions that make a difference for Canadians. Cellectis is abandoning development of its two internal allogeneic CAR-T programs and repositioning itself as an in vivo gene editing company focused initially on cardiovascular disease. 4. GENFIT acquired nangibotide from Inotrem in the summer and plans to start a Phase 2a trial in acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) in the fourth quarter. ✅ Don’t miss the next biotech story from European (French?) But behind the announcement, the commercial logic reveals a lot about how big pharma is prioritizing pipeline assets following massive M&A deals. Pfizer originally acquired CD228V through its $43B Seagen buyout, advancing it into Phase 1 before strategic portfolio pruning paused the program. Medicus Pharma stepped in to take over global development, manufacturing, and commercialization rights across all human disease indications, giving the asset a dedicated operational home. The Structure & Financial Terms: - Financials: Medicus provides $27M in near-term payments ($12M upfront at signing plus an additional $15M on the first anniversary in September 2027). Pfizer is contributing $2M in non-refundable development funding to kickstart operations. Total milestone payments can exceed $1B based on clinical, regulatory, and commercial targets, backed by tiered low double-digit net sales royalties. - Territory & Rights: Worldwide, exclusive, sublicensable license covering all human disease indications. Medicus shoulders full responsibility for clinical advancement and regulatory filings. - Asset & Stage: CD228V (PF-08046031), an antibody-drug conjugate targeting melanotransferrin (CD228/MFI2) conjugated to an MMAE payload via a protease-cleavable linker. Currently at Phase 1 stage for advanced melanoma and solid tumors. Why This Matters for BD Teams: When large pharma consolidates, high-potential programs often get sidelined simply because internal development bandwidth gets redirected. Structuring a staggered upfront ($12M now, $15M in year two) gives a specialized biotech immediate runway without triggering immediate balance sheet shocks. Pfizer retains the core patent estate and keeps an option to co-fund pivotal trials, preserving massive upside if Medicus successfully validates the mechanism. 🚀 Have technology, research, or IP ready for licensing?
