I was playing around with Onenote on my work laptop (Office 2013) and I love it. I am considering buying it for my home computer but only if its possible to sync the two. My work's IT policy prohibits Onedrive, Dropbox, Google drive, hotmail, gmail, etc. It also locks USB ports (There is alot of HIPAA information). Is it possible to sync Onenote to my home computer by sending a file or some other way? I'm able to email files. Thanks for any advice! Not exactly syncing in the sense of automatic updating your notes on one computer ehen edits are made on the other. That would indeed need access to / saving on OneDrive or OneDrive for business (it also could be done using a shared folder on one PC which has to form a network of some kind and using a VPN connection. But that is complicated and not very reliable). What you can do is export your notebook to a ONEPKG file and send that via mail or transport it another way to your home computer. The latter absilutely has to use OneNote 2013 or 2016 from MS Office as well (not the free version) to import the ONEPKG to a new notebook. As soon as you make changes to the work notebook you would have to repeat the process, so export the notebook again and on the home computer delete the "old one" and import the new ONEPKG file to a new one. Not very comfortable. Instead of exporting / importing the whole notebook to ONEPKG you could also just export single sections as ONE files and import them. But in the end this is not that much better. Real syncing of notebooks requires OneNote to use a special protocol (instead of swapping files) that is only provided by Microsofts OneDrive/OneDrive for Business servers. Now, Onenote is not sold at all. Microsoft has made it free. So in short, you can say it is changed. You can save it to harddrive even with free versions. Onenote files are saved with .one extension.
