They helped us to understand all the tax regulation, collection of the cash and the regular things that we need to operate a movie theatre. Having the right financial partner was, for us, very key in the success of India. And now we ’ re the second largest multiplex movie theatre, and we have theatres in 95% of the cities of India. Entering a new territory, that’s also very highly regulated, it was very scary. Going shoulder to shoulder with HSBC was very, very important. During Covid, Cinépolis, as well as the rest of the movie theatres, had the worst crisis in all times. We not only had a closing of all the movie theatres in all the 19 countries, also we had a war from the streaming platforms.

HSBC was one of the top leaders that helped us to not only restructure the debt that we had, but also to give us liquidity to support the operations and to keep us alive. This trust that you build over the years, by having this constant conversation and is about really knowing each other. When you have the financial support, like HSBC with us, I see a bright, a bright future for Cinépolis.
