How to setup Encryted email feature on Office 365 / Outlook 2016
发布时间:2026-11-01 | 浏览:1
We have a 100% hosted Office 365 (Business Premium) account. We do not use the AD integration. Only use it for email and Office apps. I am trying to figure out how to setup encrypted email services. Is it something on the Office 365 admin/exchange portal or individually on Outlook 2016 users?
I've not been able to find any step by step instructions on the newer Office 365 portal. Any help would be appreciated.

Office365 Encryption requires Azure Rights Management Service (Azure RMS) which is part of E3 bundles and above or is available as a Stand Alone addition.
So you can add this on as a extra subscription to your business premium, or you can upgrade your business premium to E3.
You can refer to the following article for the encryption options in Office 365.

If you choose Office 365 Message Encryption (OME), you need to purchase Azure Rights Management as it’s not included in your Office 365 Business Premium subscription. Then, you can follow the article below to set up OME:

If you have related certificate, you can choose S/MIME. Please follow the article below:
